One World Trekking - Adventure Travel

Adventure Travel Trip Insurance

It is a requirement of joining any of our trips that you take out a personal travelers insurance policy that must cover you for medical assistance, emergency helicopter rescue and expenses related to repatriation in the case of your having an accident. You MUST send us evidence BEFORE departure that you have obtained travel insurance and that this policy covers you for at least $25,000 in medical assistance, helicopter rescue evacuation and repatriation expenses.

WHY IS TRAVEL INSURANCE REQUIRED?
In each of the countries we travel to, our overseas ground agents are required to put up a substantial monetary bond with their respective governments in order to organize and operate adventure travel trips. In the case of an accident, this money can be immediately released to pay for any emergency medical and / or transportation expenses on your behalf. We require you to have a personal travelers insurance policy that must cover you for medical assistance, emergency helicopter rescue and expenses related to repatriation so that the agent's bond money can be replaced with the government.

For example: if you do not acclimatize properly at one of higher camps and become to ill to hike to lower altitudes, a helicopter can be called to come and get you and transport you back to Kathmandu where our ground staff can then take you to the proper medical clinic for examination. When you are sick, this process needs to take place immediately and there is no time to waste as your condition can deteriorate quickly. From beginning to end, the tab for this can come to $10,000 or more. The insurance we require you to take out makes sure everyone is properly covered if such an event occurs.

WHAT COVERAGE IS REQUIRED?
It is a required condition of joining any of our trips that you take out a personal travelers insurance policy that MUST cover you for a MINIMUM of $25,000 in medical assistance, emergency helicopter rescue and expenses related to repatriation in the case of your having an accident. There are many companies on the Internet that provide this coverage. Do a web search or here are a few recommendations.

With Travel Guard's new adventure travel insurance plan, you can make sure your adventure travel investment is covered. Adventure travel presents numerous opportunities for mishaps to come your way and travel insurance plans through Travel Guard make it easy to find the right coverage for your adventure travel with a number of options to choose from. Our newest plan allows you to cover your adventure sports activities typically excluded in many travel insurance plans by including "Adventure Sports Coverage" that provides trip interruption, emergency medical evacuation and medical expense benefits for losses from adventure activities such as trekking and mountaineering.

WHAT COVERAGE IS RECOMMENDED?
Most companies selling travel insurance will also offer you the opportunity to purchase Trip Cancellation coverage. This coverage tends to be the more expense part of your policy and the premium is typically based upon your total trip cost. We do not require you to have this coverage, but we do highly RECOMMEND it. Your trip deposit is transferable to another trip in the same year, but is not refundable as we must pay our ground agent for your place on the trip in advance. So, if you decide to purchase this coverage, we strongly suggest that you obtain this policy as soon as possible after putting down your trip deposit to protect you in the case that you subsequently have to cancel your trip. PLEASE REFER TO THE CANCELLATION POLICY IN OUR BOOKING CONDITIONS.
