Epic Himalayan Journeys

Our Epic Himalayan Journey Series represents an outlandish program of unique, off-the-beaten-path trekking adventures. These treks were created to cure the 'been there done that' syndrome and provide the experienced and the first-time Himalayan trekker with an epic mountain trekking and cultural experience.

Classic Himalayan Treks

Our Himalayan Classic Trek Series represents the tried and true walking journeys of the world's greatest mountain range. Our goal is to provide you a quality trek at a competitive price on dates that work for your schedule.

Annapurna Treks

Barely 25 miles north of Pokhara sits the most beautiful mountain range in Nepal - the Annapurnas. The Annapurna Range is one of the most popular trekking destinations in the world, it is easily accessible from Pokhara and offers tremendous potential for scenic walks and for alpine exploration in a splendid high Himalayan setting.

Mount Everest Treks

The Everest region is understandably the world's most popular and spectacular hiking destination. Sacred stones, chortens, mani walls and prayer flags will mark our route as we look down into the gorge of the Dudh Kosi and gaze up at the seemingly outstretched arms of Ama Dablam.

Worldwide Hiking Tours

Our new program of Worldwide Hiking Adventures is designed to take us across the globe in search of the world’s best hiking and cultural vacations. We have developed a series of unique, professionally guided and fully-supported hiking trips to the world's great mountain areas. Lace up your boots!

pakistan k2 trekOver the years there have been numerous books which have brought together collections of articles on the subject of the world’s greatest treks. Books such as John Cleare’s ‘Trekking - Great Walks of the World’, Walt Unsworth’s ‘Classic Walks of the World’ and Steve Razzetti’s ‘Top Treks of the World’ are just to name a few. The editors of these books have always included the trek up the Baltoro to Concordia as one of their classics, and with very good reason! Trekking into the heart of the mighty Karakoram Range to Concordia Camp involves a long and demanding walk through a remote and rugged land. Our trek starts out from Askole, a village which is only accessible by way of a rough and tumble drive on a highly weather dependent road along the Braldu Gorge. Any difficulty which has to be overcome is more than compensated for, however, by the stunningly dramatic landscape.

At Concordia, our ultimate destination, there is an assembly of giant peaks, including K2 (8611m.) the second highest and arguably the most impressive peak on earth. Three other 8000 meter peaks lie at the head of the Baltoro Glacier - Broad Peak, Gasherbrum I and Gasherbrum II. In no other part of the world can you find such a concentration of 8000 and near 8000 meter peaks. On the hike in to Concordia there are great mountains such as Masherbrum (K1), alongside the famous and spectacular rock architecture of the Trango, Cathedral and Lobsang groups. There is also the sheer enormity of the Baltoro Glacier, over which we have to hike across for the last five days of the approach. In addition, there is the chance to observe first hand the remarkable way of life of the Balti people, who maintain a cheerful outlook in spite of, or perhaps because of, their having very few of what the Western world would consider to be essentials. This is an absolutely classic journey, which takes in some of the most magnificent mountain scenery in the world. From the arid Shigar and Askole valleys, with their unbelievable oasis of irrigated greenery, to the splendid mountainscapes of the upper Baltoro, this is the visual experience of a lifetime.

In 2013, we again return to trekking in northern Pakistan. From 1988 to 2006 we successfully led trekking groups to every corner of the Karakoram. For obvious reasons these treks have been less popular over the years, but with a top notch local agent and the tremendous success of many European and Australian groups rediscovering this gem among trekking destinations the past two years, the summer of 2013 looks set to be another popular season in the Karakoram.
