Tashi Jangbu Sherpa was born in Namche Bazaar, Khumbu. In 1979, Tashi was selected for Nepal's first-ever mountaineering training course in Manang. After several years of climbing including Mt. Everest, he was chosen to go to ENSA (Ecole Nationale de Ski et d'Alpinisme) in Chamonix to be certified as a guide. In addition to climbing extensively in the Swiss, French and Italian Alps, he was also an instructor at the Norwegian Mountaineering School in Hemsedal. Tashi started his company Everest Trekking in 1982 based in Kathmandu.
Today, Tashi Jangbu Sherpa is one of Nepal's leading adventure trekking and expedition climbing experts. Tashi is a past president (1999-2002) of the Nepal Mountaineering Association and during his tenure planned the opening of numerous new climbing peaks. Even today he remains on the executive board of the NMA. He also remains involved with other tourism related associations such as TAAN, HRA & the Nepal Tour Operators Association. Tashi is indeed a wealth of Himalayan experience and we are glad to have him as our man in charge in Nepal.
Tashi and his Canadian wife Nancy have two sons Jimmy and Tenzing Sherpa.
