21 days - The Land of the Sherpas - Kala Pattar - A visit to Everest Basecamp

This outstanding trek visits the seldom-traveled high valleys of the Khumbu, passes through picturesque villages, explores Buddhist monasteries and introduces the trekker to the incredible hospitality of the Sherpa people. The adventure begins with a scenic flight to Lukla. We spend two nights acclimatizing at the colorful Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar before following the seldom trekked trail leading into the Bhote Khoshi Valley. We exit this high and wild area with a crossing of the Renjo La Pass and then arrive at the sacred lakes of Gokyo. All through this trek we are treated to simply incredible mountain views that include Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu and, of course, Mount Everest. We will cross the Cho La Pass, make a visit to Everest Base Camp and make the hike up Kala Patar. This is the Ultimate Everest trek!

Strenuous Trekking = physically very challenging and more suited to hikers who are used to extended days (6-10 hours) and who are competent over uneven and difficult terrain. These treks will involve lengthy periods at high altitudes.

Day 1: Arrive Kathmandu. Met on arrival. Transfer to hotel.
Day 2: Fly to Lukla. Trek to Monjo. 5-6 hour trek.
Day 3: Trek to Namche Bazaar. 11,150 feet. 3-4 hour trek.
Day 4: Rest and acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar.
Day 5: Trek to Thame. 12,530 feet. 5 to 6 hour trek.
Day 6: Trek to Lungden. 14,270 feet. 4 hours of trekking.
Day 7: Rest and acclimatization day in Lungden.
Day 8: Trek to Gokyo over the Renjo La Pass. 8 hour trek.
Day 9: Ascent of Gokyo Ri, rest and acclimatization.
Day 10: Trek to Dragnak. 15,420 feet. 2 hours of trekking.
Day 11: Cross Cho La Pass to Dzongla. 15,845ft. 9 hour trek.
Day 12: Trek to Lobuche. 16,110 feet. 5-6 hour trek.
Day 13: Trek to Everest BC & return to Gorekshep. 16,865ft.
Day 14: Hike to Kala Pattar and trek to Dingboche. 14,465ft.
Day 15: Trek to Deboche. 12,170 feet. 5-6 hour trek.
Day 16: Trek to Namche or Monjo. 11,150 feet. 6-7 hour trek.
Day 17: Trek to Lukla. 9,320 feet. 4-5 hour trek.
Day 18: Fly Lukla to Kathmandu. Transfer to hotel.
