MOUNT EVEREST KHUMBU EXPLORER TREK
Cultural Trekking in the Mount Everest National Park
15 days - Encounter Sherpa Life - Visit Buddhist Monasteries - Witness Grand Himalayan Mountain Views

Trekking in the Khumbu region of Nepal. Home to Mount Everest and the famous Sherpa people.
The Everest region is understandably the world's most popular and spectacular hiking destination. Our new Khumbu Explorer Trek begins with a spectacular flight from Kathmandu to the 9,300-foot airstrip at Lukla. We then follow the traditional expedition route to the Sherpa capital of the Khumbu, the village of Namche Bazaar and onwards, alongside raging rivers to seldom-visited hamlet of Upper Pangboche. Along the way we will visit many picturesque Sherpa villages such as Tengboche, the home of Nepal 's most famous monastery situated beneath the impressive backdrop of Everest and Ama Dablam (Mother's Charm). Our journey continues on a high traversing path connecting Upper Pangboche to Phortse and the village of Khumjung in the Green Valley. On this section of trail we will encounter few others and will feel dwarfed by the surrounding mountains. Sacred stones, chortens, mani walls (boulders marked with Buddhist prayer inscriptions) and prayer flags will mark our route as we look down into the gorge of the Dudh Kosi and gaze up at the seemingly outstretched arms of Ama Dablam. We may not meet a Yeti, but Barking Deer, Musk Deer, Himalayan Tahr and the bearded Mountain Goat can be seen grazing on the steep slopes between Pangboche and Khumjung. This easy-paced and fully-supported lodge trek allows us to enjoy an excellent introduction to trekking in Nepal and provide a unique insight into the ‘Land of the Sherpa' and ‘Home of Mount Everest'.
