School Kids Helping Scientists Save the Snow Leopard High in the Nepalese Himalaya, teenage students are monitoring wildlife in their community. Dr. Som Ale, Regional Director with the Snow Leopard Conservancy, has been leading an effort to alleviate conflict between local people and snow leopards in Nepal’s northern regions. Som and his team are being aided by junior high and high school kids in order to monitor the snow leopard in its remote habitat. |

U.S. State Department Lifts Travel Advisory For Nepal
GREAT NEWS!! The United States has lifted its nearly year-old travel advisory against visiting Nepal, citing improved conditions in the Himalayan heartland. In light of improved conditions, the U.S. Department of State cancelled the warning. Despite the travel advisory, nearly 35,000 US citizens visited Nepal between January and November 2011. |
