STOK KANGRI TREK AND CLIMB
The Magnificent Mountains of the Indian Himalaya
22 days - Remote landscape - Buddhist monasteries - The 'Kilimanjaro' of India
Ladakh was once an independent kingdom, its dynasties descended from the king of Tibet. Its political fortunes ebbed and flowed over the centuries, and the kingdom was at its greatest in the early 17th century under the famous king Sengge Namgyal, whose rule extended across Spiti and western Tibet up to Mayumla beyond the sacred sites of Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar. Your climb to the summit of Stok Kangri will be fully supported by our expert Sherpa guides. To be at the top of a 6000 meter peak is certainly a challenge but the rewards can be life changing. Our trek through the Markha Valley crosses the Kongmaru La (5150m), the highest pass on this trek and passes through the Hemis National Park, created to preserve the endangered snow leopard and other wildlife in the area. Our trek ends at the famous Hemis Monastery.
